In Ayurveda, ITP can be correlated to Raktapitta, a disorder in which Rakta (blood) gets vitiated by the Pitta dosha. Which while circulating effects and get accumulated in the weak part i.e. bone marrow where it hampers the platelet production and even decreases their shelf life. As per Ayurveda the reason behind vitiation of pitta dosha is our unwholesome diet (includes excessive consumption of spicy, sour and fermented foodstuffs), improper lifestyle (excessive exposure in sunlight, awakening at night, etc.), mental status (excessive anger or grief), heredity (genetic factors), weak immunity (where own immune system produces antibodies against the healthy cells), etc.
